My Philosophy
True healing has been my passion since I was 15. This has led me to seek understanding of health as a whole, not just something that we experience as individuals. Our bodies are constantly giving feedback to us about environmental pollution, diet, stress levels, how aligned we are with a life we love, our trauma, our conditioning, and every other factor that makes up our daily lives. To me, health is so much more than eating well and exercising, it is an important tool on our journey through life. I believe we are ever-changing and ever-evolving into who we are meant to be and our health provides a visceral response to the choices we make in life.
This philosophy is inspired by my studies of Ayurveda, yoga philosophy, non-duality, permaculture, and more. I have an undying passion for understanding the interrelated-ness of all life and often look to both ancient wisdom and modern science to figure out how we as human are meant to live. From my studies, I have developed a strong belief that we cannot be truly well unless we are living lives of meaning, connected with the community and natural environment around us. Connection with these things may look different for every individual, but is essential to consider when looking at one’s overall wellness. Cultures throughout time have placed great value on purpose and connection, but our society tend to lack in these areas. When we look at ourselves as people within a culture that has a strong influence on our lives, we can begin to make meaningful choices to shift our lives towards wellness and inner alignment.
My perspective on wellness coaching is different than many. Most wellness coaches I see promote a ‘green smoothies and spandex workout wear’ brand of health. Have you seen this, too? Our society often promotes a false positivity version of health- full of magic weight loss solutions and miracle herbs that give boundless energy. I get the not so subtle message from the wellness industry that if I just had a little more money and more discipline I would find the key to ultimate health and will reach some level of superhuman perfection that will keep me from every being sad or sick again. I think this is an illusion. Life is difficult and we are always facing new challenges. In this fast-paced world, we often need to find ways to be more gentle with ourselves rather than find new reasons to feel inadequate. In my coaching sessions, we refocus regularly to make sure your wellness goal are chosen in alignment with your intuition and higher purpose, rather than based on the “should’s” we take on from the world around us. When we listen to our inner calling, we are able to source far more inspiration and motivation than applying discipline alone.
